Be warned that the seating arrangement here is a bit controversial. While they offer traditional tables and chairs, they also have majlis, which are traditional seating areas on the floor. Hours: Monday – Saturday from 11:00 am – 10:00 pm, Sunday from 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm

After you get a haircut from Square Cut, go a few doors down and grab an authentic Halal wrap from Pita & Hummus. All the food served here is fresh and locally sourced. Many of the items on the menu are from the owners’ personal family recipes.

All the food here is pretty affordable and includes everything from hot wings, 16” lamb or chicken gyro pizzas, and falafels. Of course, as the name suggests, you’ve got to try the pita and hummus, which is available for only $7.49. Likewise, if you’re torn between the chicken and the lamb, go for the lamb. You not only get a lot, but it tastes great and is a favorite among customers.

The interior of this fast food establishment is kind of similar to a Qdoba or a Subway in the fact that you can customize your meal and then either sit down at one of the tables or take your freshly prepared food home.

Best of all, Pita & Hummus is on GrubHub, DoorDash, and Uber Eats so there are plenty of ways to satisfy your cravings!

Cafe 520

Address: 520 Hoes Ln, Piscataway, NJ 08854
Hours: Monday – Friday from 9:00 am – 9:00 pm, Saturday-Sunday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Cafe 520 is located inside the local YMCA and one of the things we love about it (and what you probably will, too) is that you can set up a pickup time for your order.

The inside is set up like other traditional fast food establishments like Subway where you can create your own smoothie or acai/pitaya bowl. Though it’s not a traditional restaurant, it’s a great place to grab something quick and healthy for lunch. They offer a wide selection of smoothies, juices, pizza, hot dogs, and bowls. If you’re looking to order something tasty that you won’t find anywhere else, go for the PB Jelly Time smoothie. This has bananas, almond milk, strawberries, and peanut butter. It’s a truly wild beverage and one locals highly recommend!

Next time you’re at the YMCA, check them out. Here’s an overview of their menu.

Thai Basil

Address: 1316 Centennial Ave, Piscataway, NJ 08854
Hours: Monday-Thursday from 11:30 am – 9:00 pm, Friday – Saturday from 11:30 am – 9:30 pm, and Sunday from 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm.

Thai Basil has several locations, but the one in Piscataway is one of the best! As a family-owned business, they offer a quiet and authentic dining experience where you’ll be surrounded by Thailand-inspired artwork. They also have booths for extra comfort!

In terms of food, it’s really hard to choose what’s the best thing on the menu because it’s all great. In terms of popularity, most customers love the red curry and drunken noodles, which are rice noodles sauteed in basil, onions, and peppers. One cool aspect of Thai Basil is that you can customize how spicy your food is. All the food served here is vegan and in great quantities so you’ll have enough left over for lunch tomorrow.

Keep in mind that if you want to visit, their last seating is 45 minutes before closing. You can check out the menu here.

Spain Inn

Pleasant View Gardens Staff Fave!

Address: 1707 W 7th St, Piscataway, NJ 08854
Hours: Monday – Thursday from 3:00 pm – 10:00 pm, Friday – Saturday from 12:00 pm – 11:00 pm, and Sunday from 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm.

Spain Inn is so cool! Once you step inside, you’ll be surrounded by golden yellow wallpaper and eccentric artwork that will easily get everyone in your party talking. However, despite how interesting the decor is, it’s the menu that will really get you talkin’!

The portions here are huge! The seafood can be a bit on the pricey side, like $46.95 for Colitas de Langosta al Horno (aka 2 twin lobster tails), but that’s about as high as it goes in terms of cost. You really can’t go wrong with anything you order, but a lot of customers have nothing but nice things to say about their Medio Bistec De Lomo (sirloin steak) and sangria.

It can get a little busy here on Friday and Saturday night, with up to a 45-minute wait but most nights you’ll wait less than 15 minutes before you’re seated. Some of the tables are a little close together, so if you go on either Friday or Saturday, you may feel a little cramped, but you won’t run into this problem any other time of the week.

Enzo's Pizza

Address: 585 Stelton Rd, Piscataway, NJ 08854
Hours: Monday – Sunday from 11:00 am – 8:45 pm

The pizza served here is just right: not too cheesy, not too greasy, and not too small because the reality is that the portions served here are gigantic! You can create your own 12” personal pizza for just $11.98, but keep in mind that their specialty pies can get a bit pricey, with most costing around $26.38.

That being said, you’re paying for quality and types of pizza you wouldn’t traditionally find anywhere else, like the famous Greek Salad pizza or the Lasagna Pizza, which is a regular pizza topped with ground beef and lasagna noodles (yum)!

Like other pizza joints, you can also order salads, wings, breadsticks, and subs. Because so many order their food to go, it’s never usually crowded in here, so you’ll have ample space to sit back and unwind if you choose to eat inside. It’s set up like the kind of pizza shop you’d see on TV, with wooden paneling and booths connected back-to-back with one another.

Kanji Ramen Noodle Bar

Address: 1326 Centennial Ave, Piscataway, NJ 08854
Hours: Monday – Sunday from 11:30 am – 10:00 pm

Using nothing but premium ingredients, the residents of Piscataway love Kanji Ramen Noodle Bar because of the food, service, and atmosphere. The inside is really pretty, with a ton of wooden accents and live plants that add to the relaxed nature of this eatery.

Relaxed environment aside, the menu has a lot to offer, serving everything from traditional Japanese rice bowls to authentic Japanese stir fry noodles. The ramen portions are pretty large and are highly recommended among the residents of Piscataway, especially the Spicy Miso ramen. Their Wonderful Lemonade also comes highly recommended and is a fan favorite, so if you’re okay with a little bit of spice, this meal should be at the top of your list!

Wait times here are relatively low, but it does get busy around 7:00 pm on Friday and Saturdays and around lunch time on Sundays. Here’s a better look at their menu!

Buzzy's Food & Spirits

Address: 200 Stelton Rd, Piscataway, NJ 08854
Hours: Monday – Wednesday from 11:00 am – 11:00 pm, Thursday – Saturday from 11:00 am – 12:00 am, and Sunday from 12:00 pm – 12:00 am

Buzzy’s Food & Spirits has been around for over 20 years and during this time they have certainly perfected their craft. Though this is technically a bar and is set up as such, it is a family-friendly restaurant during the day.

You’ll find classics here like hamburgers and steak fries, both of which are affordably priced. The same goes for their spirits. This is a great place to go for holiday celebrations as they usually craft a limited holiday menu – and we recommend that you do! For example, during St. Patrick’s Day, they offered limited, themed cocktails like Mint Chocolate Martinis and Shamrock Shots.

This isn’t the fanciest place on this list, but the quality of service and food has been consistent for over 20 years, so it easily earns a spot on this list. Follow them on Facebook for updates!

Midori Sushi

Piscataway Park Staff’s Pick!

Address: 1392 Centennial Ave, Piscataway, NJ 08854
Hours: Monday – Thursday from 11:00 am – 2:45 pm and 4:30 pm – 9:45 pm, Friday – Saturday from 11:00 am – 2:45 pm and 4:30 pm – 10:15 pm, and Sunday from 1:00 pm – 9:45 pm

If you love sushi, then you’ll love Midori Sushi because they have a wide selection of sushi and sashimi. In terms of sushi options, some of the most popular include the Volcano Roll and California Roll. However, the hibachi dinner is by far one of the most beloved experiences the restaurant offers.

The hibachi dinner includes vegetables, noodles, miso soup, and a salad in addition to your meat options, which include everything from salmon to steak and chicken. It’s worth noting that there isn’t really a kid-friendly menu here, so if your child doesn’t like sushi, then this may not be the best option for a family outing, but it’s great for date night or a night on the town.

You can check out the menu here.
